Summer Advantage students attend courses offered by the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne organized especially for foreign students. First offered in 1919, these courses in French language and culture have attracted more than 100,000 students from over 100 nations.
Transcripts
Transcripts are issued by the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne. One official copy of the transcript will be mailed free of charge to the address specified in the application form. An end-of-term grade report will also be sent to the home address on your application form.
Assessment and grading
Students are given regular homework assignments and periodic tests or quizzes, but the grade for the course is based on the result obtained on the final exam. Although homework assignments are not averaged into the final grade, they prepare the student for the final exam. As much material is covered in the French language course, attendance is mandatory.
Course selection
Three levels of French are available to students. Course level is determined by a placement test administered by the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne in Paris regardless of previous experience with the language.
