University of Granada

The University of Granada was founded in 1526 by the Emperor Charles V. It is now the fourth largest university in Spain, with over 60,000 students during the academic year. The Intensive Language courses for foreign students at the University’s Center for Modern Languages prepare students for real life in Spain by teaching them how to communicate. Set in the lovely Realejo neighborhood of Granada, the university classes focus on grammar, comprehension, speaking and vocabulary.

Transcripts

Transcripts are issued by the University of Granada. One official copy of the transcript will be mailed free of charge to the address specified in the application form. An end-of-term grade report will also be sent to the home address on your application form.

Assessment and grading

Most professors teach lecture style, and there is little or no student participation or daily homework. Professors will assume that students take their courses seriously, and that they will complete coursework without being reminded. Class attendance is taken into consideration towards your final grade.

Course selection

Course level is determined by a placement test administered in Granada regardless of previous experience with the language. Confirmation depends on the University of Granada placement test results. Four levels of Spanish are available to students.

Within these levels are two sublevels—lower (A) and higher (B). Changes in course level are free but to drop a for-credit optional previously chosen on the application form will appear on the transcript as in “Incomplete”.
